Have you lost a beloved pet and wonder in your heart if you’ll ever love again? Do you feel the pain is too much to bear so vow to never open yourself up to that kind of heartbreak again? Did you love your pet so much that you feel as though taking in another would be an act of disloyalty to the one you loved so dearly?
Take a moment to reflect on all the love you shared with your pet and all the love they gave. Then think about all the love you gave, and ask yourself if you have it in your heart to share that love with another animal. A homeless animal. One that has never known the kindness of a human’s touch. The love and companionship that you know you can give. Think about what your beloved pet might say, and might wish for you.
And wish for a poor and lonely stray.
