Toffee Teefer’s journey to us began when she was found in heartbreaking condition, curled up on someone’s porch and in very rough shape. She was extremely skinny — truly one of the skinniest dogs we’ve seen. It was clear she hadn’t had an easy road. But even then, her sweet personality never stopped shining through. Beneath her fragile frame was a bright, loving spirit just waiting for a second chance. Now that she’s safe and receiving the care she deserves, Toffee Teefer’s true colors are on full display. She is a wiggly, happy, affectionate lady who is always thrilled to see you. Her whole body lights up when she gets attention, and she soaks up love like it’s her favorite thing in the world. She takes treats gently and is eager to learn, making her an absolute joy to work with. Toffee Teefer is currently enrolled in training classes through our START program with the Dayton Dog Training Club, where she’s learning all kinds of new skills. She already knows how to sit, will happily “down” if you’re kneeling or low to the ground, and loves playing “get it” and “come.” She can spin and turn like a pro, and she’s working hard on polishing up her manners, including heeling and keeping all four paws on the floor instead of jumping up. With her joyful energy and loving heart, Toffee Teefer would be a fun, devoted addition to almost any home ready to continue her journey.
