Luna
Clermont County Animal Shelter
This sweet potato is looking for an adopter or foster! Luna has finally been cleared from medical hold and is looking for her forever home to live out her golden years and finally have some peace in her life! Despite everything she’s been through, she still remains the most happy, friendly and loving gal! Background: Luna came to CCAS very overweight and with a large wound from being attacked by another dog in the previous home. She was treated and healed well, medical staff also discovered that she has a thyroid issue which has contributed to the weight gain and hair loss. She was redeemed to the original owner only to be attacked again but even more severely, this time losing a significant part of her ear and had deep wounds around it. CCAS got a call saying that she had been brought into the vet with infected wounds that led to the removal of more of her ear and she had also been abandoned there. Who is Luna: She is truly a unicorn disguised as a hippo. Even after being through so much physical and emotional trauma at 10 years old, she LOVES everyone she meets including children, other dogs and even cats! She’s a calm, low-key girl but she has some pep to her step too! The more weight she has lost, the better she is feeling and is becoming a bit more active. She will trot along with you for a bit and hop around when she gets excited, then go right to plopping down and throwing her legs out behind her for a snooze. Her needs: Luna is currently on thyroid management medication that has been helping with her weight loss. She will need those indefinitely but don’t let that deter you! Thyroid meds are actually very cheap and easy to get! Also, blood work confirmed she has liver disease. Since starting a liver supplement (Denamarin Advanced), her liver values have shown improvement, though the supplement is expensive. Luna is also a senior girl and would fit best with any companion who is calmer and easy-going.
