My Furry Valentine is thrilled to announce that “Dr. O”, well-loved vet within the local rescue community, is joining us again this year as our Ask-A-Vet expert!
Dr. Stephanie Ogburn graduated from Kansas State’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She has practiced in both emergency and family animal hospitals. She is a wife and mother to two girls, she also has two furry family members. Dr. O rescued her most recent family member, a lab mix named Daysi. She enjoys working with rescue animals and organizations in her family-based animal hospital. Because of this, My Furry Valentine was an event that Dr. O knew she wanted to be a part of! Dr. O has lots of experience consulting perspective owners about their new pets. Some of the questions that she encourages prospective adopters to ask include:
- Does this animal have any special medical or behavioral needs that I should know about?
- Does this animal get along with other animals, kids etc.
- Has this animal been fully vetted, including but not limited to: vaccinations, micro-chipping, heartworm testing, FIV/FeLV testing, and spayed/neutered?
- Is this dog/cat’s breed prone to any medical/behavioral issues?
- Has this animal been kept on the necessary heartworm and/or flea prevention?
Trenton Animal Hospital will be offering low-cost micro-chipping so that new pet adopters can leave the building with the security of knowing that they’ve given their new pet the best chance of finding its way home should it become lost. And even if you’re not adopting at the event, Dr. O will be happy to answer any additional questions that anyone may have while at MFV 2013. In addition, 50 adopters will receive a $25 gift card to Trenton Animal Hospital. Dr. O looks forward to seeing lots of adopted animals and happy families at MFV 2013!
