Once again, My Furry Valentine marks the start of “Pet Adoption Weekend” in the City of Cincinnati! Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach will help kick things off with an official announcement of Mayor John Cranley’s Proclamation.
There are many reasons why we are thrilled that Chris is joining us to officially kick-off this exciting weekend, not the least of which is that Chris is a strong voice for animals! Here are some things you might not know about Chris and his love of animals…
1) He’s been a vegetarian since he was 5 years old (over 30 years!)
2) He constantly rescued dogs, cats…and even a pig…while growing up in Louisville, Kentucky.
3) He was raised with 3 sisters – all cocker spaniels, Buffy Ann, Marbles May, and Lucy Lou Seelbach
4) His partner of 10 years was raised on a horse farm in Northern Kentucky.
5) As an adult, he’s had 5 cats (Stormy, Bandit, Ruthie, Riah & Jazz), although Stormy and Bandit have passed.
6) In 2012, Seelbach led the efforts to repeal breed specific legislation in Cincinnati and form a task force on animal welfare.
7) On Council, Seelbach also led efforts to fund and support our police’s “mounted patrol.”
8) Councilman Seelbach is staunch advocate for animal rescues in our region, helping to personally raise over $1,000 last year for local rescues, Adore-A-Bull and All Dogs Come from Heaven.

Thank you, Chris, for being such a great friend to Cincinnati’s animals, and a supporter of My Furry Valentine!
