Love at first sight truly exists, and it sounds like Stacy would agree. Here is her My Furry Valentine 2016 happy ending.
“I adopted Gypsy at MFV on Saturday from PAWS of Dearborn County. I went to the event [to] pet the animals, to look at pet related vendors, and maybe find a rescue I could connect with to volunteer for. Then I pet Gypsy and she tugged at my heart. I posted on Facebook to raise awareness of different pets but each time I looked at her picture my heart strings tugged a little more. But I had 2 cats already and an Australian Shepherd at home. Surely I didn’t need another cat. The 2nd time I visited the booth I got her out and held her in my lap. She purred and wagged her tail like crazy. The volunteers commented how great she was with me. Again I could feel my heart swell but put her up again and walked away texting my husband at work pictures of her. The 3rd visit I felt like a stalker. A family had her out and was loving on her. I smiled and asked if they were going to adopt her. They said they were thinking about it. I told them I was happy for them and left to go to my car happy that she likely found a home. But then my husband texted and said I should get her. Immediately I turned around and went back inside on a mission to make sure Gypsy was adopted by that family yet secretly hoping she was still there. When I arrived I felt the love from the volunteers saying the family hadn’t returned. They were as happy as I was because we all knew Gypsy was coming home with me.
I talked to her all the way home and she meowed in that carrier like she was happy not scared. Once home I tried blocking her in the bathroom and brought in her own dishes and litterbox. But her curiosity wanted no part of that small room. She began walking around the full house without a single fear. My other two cats were apprehensive and hissed some but no fights or claws were out. She hissed when my dog came near. But by last night within 24 hours she was rubbing up against my dog purring, laying near her, and even rolling over playfully with her. All of them are getting along fine! I didn’t know I needed another cat on Saturday but I feel really happy I went because I fell in love. My husband loves her and she even snuggled up to sleep with him last night. Gypsy is a perfect fit for our fur family.”
We’re so happy for you and your new family, Stacy! Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop, and we know there are many years of love in your future. Congratulations!
