FAQs

What is My Furry Valentine (MFV)?

My Furry Valentine is a Greater Cincinnati’s largest companion animal adoption event. We bring together dozens of shelters and rescues, hundreds of adoptable animals and thousands of potential pet adopters under one roof. Our Main Event is held in West Chester, Ohio and we have numerous participating satellite locations throughout the city.

Why should I attend MFV?

If you’re looking for a new furry friend, My Furry Valentine is a convenient way to meet lots of homeless animals so that you can find your perfect match! Most adoption events only feature a few animals from one rescue/shelter. MFV is called a SUPER ADOPTION event because we gather 500+ animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, rats, mice, guinea pigs, gerbils and amphibians!) from 45 rescues and shelters in one place. This makes finding your perfect pet really easy! All adopted pets go home with free pet supplies, products, toys and food from our generous sponsors. You’ll also be eligible to win one of our amazing gift baskets valued between $250 and $500!

Should I bring my pet(s)?

We do not encourage guests to bring your pets along with you, unless you intend on adopting from MFV and would like to introduce your current pet to potential new ones. If you do not intend on adopting at our event, please leave your pets at home. There are many events in the Greater Cincinnati area designed for visitors to bring their pets for contests and activities, but this isn’t one of them. Our goal is to give the homeless pets in our community, and the people who work hard to save them, and chance in the spotlight. We definitely encourage any pet fanatic to attend MFV, even if you aren’t interested in adopting an animal at this time. There is plenty to learn about fostering, volunteering, etc. and you can still mingle with lots of animals! You can always shop for your pet at the many vendor booths and bring home lots of new goodies for them!

If I plan to adopt, what should I bring with me?

Please note that we have 45+ participating rescues and shelters… and the adoption fees, application and process varies with each one. Please also note that not every rescue/shelter allows for on-site adoptions. Be sure to take a look at our Featured Pets Gallery and start looking now for your next pet. You can also learn more about all of our participating rescues and complete their adoption applications in advance, even if you’re not sure which pet you will adopt. If you are pre-approved as an adopter, you can meet different available pets at MFV and take home your perfect match! If you adopt from a group that does allow for on-site adoptions, they may ask you for the following: Driver’s License, Rental/Lease Agreement, Landlord’s Contact Information, Vet’s Contact Information (if you have current pets), etc. You should also bring cash and/or check to secure your adoption. Each adopted pet will go home with a free collar and leash (compliments of Alcott!) along with lots of other free pet supplies.

Satellite Adoption Locations

There will also be numerous locations throughout the Greater Cincinnati area that will also be hosting adoption events on February 15th and 16th. If you can’t make it to our Main Event, please click here to find other participating locations in your area.

If you adopt from any of these satellite locations, you can claim your free goody bag by visiting the Main Event with your adoption paperwork. You can also be entered to win any of our adoption raffle baskets.
